Mom’s (84) always had to be the center of attention. Now she’s harassing my 9-year old son Jim because she thinks he’s socially “insecure.” Jim is loving, helps take care of his younger brother, has many friends, makes good grades, plays sports, and has been happy since the day he was born. How can I make her leave him alone?
Just read Mom the email you sent to us and add: “Mom, if you continue making Jim feel he’s not ‘good enough’ I’ll limit your visits.” Protect your son—Jim’s self-confidence is at risk and Mom’s unlikely to change her toxic behavior unless you remain firm.
