Dear Judie,
Mom’s (88) had the same doctor for eight years. She respects and appreciates his skills and always says; “Thank you, doctor”, when the visit ends. She’s increasingly resentful that he doesn’t respond. Instead of saying; “you’re welcome”, he just smiles and says; “I’ll see you in two weeks”. Mom reads your column. Any ideas?

Dear Florence’s Mom,
Count your blessings: you have a doctor you trust and appreciate who obviously works hard to provide excellent care for you. It’s time to make peace and accept his smile as an acknowledgement of your thanks.
